Position Summary

Provides Quality Control (QC) support across a wide variety of IT systems, including premises wiring, inside plant (ISP) infrastructure, telecommunications rooms and associated infrastructure, and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure. Performs inspections and walkthroughs, validates installation procedures, witnesses IT testing and critical OSP construction, and maintains QC documentation to ensure work conforms to American National Standards Institute/Telecommunications Industry Association (ANSI/TIA) standards and customer requirements on military IT and construction projects.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience with on-site quality control inspection of Government IT infrastructure and network implementation projects at military installations.

  • Experience with outside plant (OSP) construction inspection, including excavation, manhole and duct system installation, concrete encasement, and communications cable installation.

  • Experience with inside plant (ISP) installation inspection, including racks and cabinets, equipment hardware, auxiliary power, grounding systems, and supporting infrastructure.

  • Experience with applying ANSI/TIA telecommunications cabling and infrastructure standards to inspection, surveillance, and acceptance decisions.

  • Experience with reading and working from site-specific construction contract documents, engineering drawings, specifications, and installation plans.

  • Experience with witnessing fiber optic and copper cable testing and reviewing test results against Government-provided test plans.

  • Experience with validating test equipment calibration against manufacturer recommendations and reporting testing irregularities to the Government.

  • Experience with attending Government and USACE construction meetings, including design reviews, preconstruction meetings, weekly and bi-weekly progress meetings, telecommunications side bar meetings, project status meetings, and Red Zone or Troop Ready meetings.

  • Experience with preparing QC inspection checklists, weekly status reports, monthly progress and management reports, and trip reports for contract submission.

  • Experience with documenting non-conformances and tracking corrective action to verified closure on Government construction projects.

  • Experience with performing work on active military installations under DoD security, OPSEC, and installation safety requirements.

  • Skilled in performing QC walkthroughs and inspections of inside and outside plant infrastructure

  • Skilled in reviewing and validating IT installation procedures against ANSI/TIA standards

  • Skilled in maintaining QC checklists, logs, and checkpoint review reports

  • Skilled in witnessing IT testing and critical outside plant construction

  • Skilled in optical fiber and copper cable testing methods

  • Skilled in interpreting grounding, bonding, and shielding requirements

Position Details
$55,000 - $60,000

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline and 0 to 5 years of experience, or

  • Associate's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline and 7 or more years of experience.

Desired Education

Clearance: Secret

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in field, construction, and telecommunications environments, including telecommunications rooms and active outside plant construction sites.

  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, construction hazards, dust, and noise.
